A warm fire, knit slippers, a bulky sweater, velvety hot chocolate, relaxed sighs, a good book and grilled cheese. There’s nothing that quite hits the spot as well as these familiar, comforting staples – so there’s no wonder that comfort food has become one of the biggest food trends all over, albeit with a twist! February 10th, we Throwdowners embark on our 8th Throwdown event, competing for the most comforting recipes.

*THE FOODIE COLLECTIVE RAISES $485 FOR MISSION BON ACCUEIL*
All of us at The Foodie Collective would like to thank everyone of you who has donated to our Christmas fundraiser. We managed to raise $485! That is $185 more than our original goal. All the money has already been donated to the Mission Bon Accueil here in Montreal. When I called up today to tell them the amount that we had managed to raised, they were pleasantly surprised and were very grateful to see that so many people cared and that we managed to raise so much money. The amount raised will allow to serve nearly 160 warm meals on Christmas day.

Yesterday afternoon, The Foodie Collective Throwdowners and guest chefs gathered once more to test a tricky cooking method: BBQ grilling. The event began at 4pm and lasted until 11pm; seven incredible delectable hours of tasting original, never-been-grilled-before (at least for us) treats! Each throwdowner stepped out of their comfort zone to present an unusual take on grilling. A big thank you to all who participated. Keep an eye out for the recipes!
