On February 13th, six of the Foodie Collective’s best and brightest joined forces to test their knowledge at Santropol Roulant’s 4th Trivia Night. Held at Santropol headquarters, participants were asked to contribute 10$ each (60$ per team of six) with all profits going to the Roulant. Beer and wine were available and large bowls of Chex mix abounded on each teams’ table. It was a great turnout, with more than eight teams in total. You could feel the brain cells buzzing!
At the beginning of the night, team names were announced and included such gems as: Quiz in my pants, Alcoholic Debutants, Emergency Exit and, of course, yours truly, the Foodie Collective. Quiz masters Mark and Naomi then proceeded to announce the five trivia categories each containing 10 questions. The 10th question of every category was Ben’s 10 (a volunteer coordinator) and consisted of trivia regarding Santropol Roulant. Categories included: Montreal in the 514, Shrimp & Tie, Musical Interlude (where the first 10 seconds of a song were played and players had to guess the title of the song and corresponding artist), Winter is coming and, last but not least, Biblio Techno.
The competition was fierce and the Foodie Collective brainiacs gave it their best, but, alas, were not able to make it into the top three. Prizes were generously awarded to the winning teams and consisted of a round of beers for the 1st team, the 2nd runners up got to choose from a selection of Santropol Roulant’s amazing preserves and 3rd prize consisted of friendly hugs from the quiz masters. All in all, it was a great evening of fundraising and friendly competition. It was also a great occasion to give those brain cells a good workout and to contribute to an amazing local cause.
Keeping in step with the trivia spirit, the Foodie Collective would like to challenge our readers to a few skull-cracking questions, all of which were asked during the trivia night. The first person to submit their answers correctly wins a FREE Foodie Collective book!!! So put those thinking caps on and test your trivia knowledge.
